Reviews

Solid Gold

"These mitts are fantastic. I read reviews and they were at the top, rightfully so, for warmth and fit. My hands stay cozy, and I can slide the thumb in when necessary, on sub-zero days. The only challenge so far is wearing these with my big down jacket having extra material around the wrist. I'll switch jackets to fit the mitt better."

Warm and Tight

"The mittens were so tight they made my hands sore, but I'm wondering if that is on purpose for the warmth. I didn't get the chance to try them out in well below freezing temps but around 32 deg F my hands started getting sweaty, so definitely would be great for colder. I would recommend sizing up. They are definitely good quality."

Have loved these for years

"These are still the warmest non-down mitts on the market, and will keep cold digits warm on all but the double-digit subzero days. I switch to my down mitts on those days, but for all other days, these are the warmest. BD - Thanks for finally making a non-black color version for women!! Bravo!"

Well-constructed, possible issues if circulatory problems

"I have thrombocytosis that predisposes to cold fingers and toes, also new to a very cold climate close to Lake Michigan, and Astrid and Pamela were very helpful. The Mercury Mitts are rated to minus 15, but I only find them actually warm to 20 degrees F, then with chilly thumbs. Some literature suggests circulatory problems can decrease glove and mitten ratings by 20-30 degrees, and that is my experience. I gave them 4 stars considering people accustomed to a cold climate with circulatory issues may have better results. Perhaps the organization could include the temperature ratings in the product detail as some similar companies do."

Exactly What I needed

"My wife gets cold hands easily and I got these for her to fix that. Now her hands sweat while she's outside"

Patrick L. (5/5)

Warmest ever!

"This is the first time ever I have gotten to ski without using hand warmers in my mittens! Seriously these were so so warm!"

Erin A. (5/5)

"I love it !!! These gloves had kept my hands warmed while I shoveled snow for hours. I recommend the Mercury Mitts, they are great for the coldest weather here in New England. I’m so glad I bought them."

Best mitts

"These are the best mitts I’ve ever owned. Warm, waterproof and sturdy. Love them. I wear them for skiing every day! Highly recommend."

Significant design flaws - wrist elastic TOO TIGHT

"Disappointed. I bought these for my daughter because I absolutely LOVE my Mercury mitts (purchased for backcountry skiing two decades ago and still going strong/keeping my fingers warm). These new ones have two major flaws: 1) No more trigger finger (separate index finger on the liner mitt) and, more importantly 2) what used to be an adjustable webbing strap at the wrist has been replaced with elastic that is TOO TIGHT. Good lord, people, the point of mittens like these is to keep our hands warm. This elastic is so tight that it cuts the circulation off! Please bring back the old webbing adjuster. Incuding a photo showing the old design on the left, the new one on the right and my skinng wrist in the middle. Seriously, my wrists are so skinny that I have a hard time wearing watches or bracelets. I don't know how anyone can wear these new mittens. Returning. (Purchased at backcountry. com)"

Warm mitts

"I love doing winter 14ers, but having Raynaud’s makes it quite difficult. Of the mitts I’ve tried these have worked the best."
