Reviews

All good

"Bought this to replace the same exact rope that is ready to retire. Happy with it."

Great rope

"Perfect for sport climbing."

Amazing Rope

"I've used the rope a few times now and i'm still alive! haha. I live in Chicago and bought this rope to use at Steelworkers park, which is a mere 10 m wall. I've been running two routes for my guests simultaneously, which takes up at most 45 m of the 60 m rope. The stretch is pretty good for soft catches, but not too stretchy where groundfalls become an issue. I will be using this rope for top rope at Devils Lake, WI once the weather clears up, super stoked."

SO amazing

"I have loved using all of my black diamond gear! It is safe and effective!"

Anna M. (5/5)

My go to rope for general purpose.

"As someone who goes through at least two ropes every year, this has become my go to rope for general use. Which includes, multi pitch Trad and Sport on basalt, granite, sandstone, Rhyolite and others. I also use it for light route development and maintenance as it’s fairly heavy duty and cost effective. The Pros and Cons; Pro: • It’s not stiff and has good feel right from the box. • It is not a rope that is prone to twisting so long as you break it in lightly before heavy use. • The price for quality is one of the better deals on the market. It’s not the most durable, but it’s not the most expensive either. • The performance is good, good elongation resulting in soft catches. • Its weight is decent for long approaches and a good choice for hard routes where a little more durability in the rope over sharp edges is desired. • I’ve never had the core separate from the sheath. Cons: •It’s not the most durable, but it’s not too far behind the beefiest ropes out there. You get maybe 3/4 the wear, but at 1/2 the price. • The middle marking is almost useless. The dark blue blends in with the black center mark making it nearly impossible to see after light use. •The sheath is easily damaged by ascenders and auto blocking devices with teeth. They chew through it pretty quickly. Not the best rope for bigwalls, or heavy use where a lot of hauling heavy loads and jugging may be involved."

Don't buy this rope - ever!

"Two of these turned into useless noodles within five months in the gym - absolute garbage, with the sheath delaminating from the core. All climbers in the gym with the same model of rope have experienced the same failure. BD won't acknowledge there's a significant flaw in the design, despite samples being sent back to their labs for analysis. Stick with Petzl or Edelrid."

Jim G. (1/5)

Worth every penny

"Incredible rope that everyone should seriously consider. Works great in my gym, or out on the crag. I climb top rope and lead, so can't comment on using it to trade. But I've got no complaints about how it performs in a variety of positions"

Alex B. (5/5)

Solid rope

"Does what it says on the tin"

Nikolas W. (5/5)

Great all around rope

"Durable and looks great for an all-around rope. works perfectly in my GriGri and Neox belay devices."

John P. (5/5)

Solid Intro Rope

"Good gym/intro rope if you’re getting into lead and want something more affordable. The rope has good construction and is reasonably durable with very good price points. I’d be hesitant to use it outside in areas with lots of sand as I think sand getting in the sheets really lowers the durability of the rope, but for gym use or outdoor areas with rocky belays or if you have very good rope awareness I think it’s a solid rope. If you want something that’s a workhorse style rope or something for sending, I’d definitely look into other rope options though."
